Abstral (Fentanyl) [Sublingual tablet] 400mcg
Abstral (Fentanyl) [Sublingual tablet] 400mcg, Fentanyl pills are administered sublingually. As the tablet dissolves, you will notice a gently bubbling feeling. It is not to be chewed. The pill may take 15 to 25 minutes to dissolve completely. If a tablet is still present after 30 minutes, it should be swallowed with a glass of water. Your doctor will determine the appropriate fentanyl sublingual tablet dose for you. If your pain does not subside after 30 minutes and your provider has allowed it, you may take one additional fentanyl sublingual tablet (of the same dose). It is not advised to split, lick, chew, or ingest the tablet. Nothing should be eaten or drunk until the tablet has completely dissolved.

This medicine may interact with other central nervous system depressants such as barbituates (including phenobarbital), tranquilizers (including Haldol®, Librium®, and Xanax ®), opioids, and general anesthetics. Certain foods and medications can alter the blood levels of this medication, thus they may require a dose adjustment or should be avoided. Grapefruit, grapefruit juice, verapamil, ketoconazole, rifampin, phenytoin, St. John’s wort, and modafinil are examples. Make sure your healthcare provider is aware of all medications and supplements you use.
