Before beginning zaleplon and each time you get a refill, read the Medication Guide issued by your pharmacist. If you have any concerns, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
As recommended by your doctor, take this medication by mouth. Zaleplon has a fast onset of action, so take it right before or shortly before retiring to bed. Your doctor and you will work together to determine the most effective dose for you.
When taking Zaleplon, you should not sleep. After you’ve slept for at least 7 to 8 hours, take this medication. If you have to get up earlier, you may experience some memory loss as well as difficulty performing tasks that demand your whole focus, such as driving or operating machinery.
If you eat a particularly heavy/high-fat meal within 2 hours of taking this medication, its effectiveness may be diminished.
