Phenergan (Promethazine HCL) 25mg is a medication in the phenothiazine class. It alters the chemical interactions in your brain. Promethazine has antihistamine characteristics as well. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a naturally occurring chemical in the body.
Allergies are characterized by itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and irritating skin rashes.
Phenergan can also be used to treat post-operative nausea, vomiting, and pain. It is also used as a sedative and to help people sleep.
Phenergan should not be used to treat asthma, pneumonia, or other infections of the lower respiratory tract.
Phenergan (Promethazine HCL) 25mg pills/tablets:
Children under the age of two should not be given Phenergan. In very young children, phenergan can cause severe respiratory problems or death. When administering this medication to a child of any age, always follow your doctor’s instructions.
Do not take Phenergan if you are allergic to promethazine or similar medications such as chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, mesoridazine, perphenazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine, or trifluoperazine.
Phenergan should not be used if you have asthma or a similar lower respiratory tract illness.
