Vardenafil is a medicine that is used to treat male erectile dysfunction (sexual impotence). It belongs to the phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor class of medicines. These drugs prevent an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type-5 from working too quickly. This enzyme is found in a wide range of tissues, including the penis.
When a man’s penis does not stiffen and develop in response to sexual stimulation, he is unable to maintain an erection. When a man is sexually stimulated, his body responds by boosting blood flow to his penis, resulting in an erection. Avanafil keeps erections going by increasing blood flow to the penis and controlling the enzyme. Avanafil does not produce an erection until the penis is physically stimulated, like during sexual intercourse.

As recommended by your doctor, take this medication by mouth. Vardenafil can be taken with or without food one hour before sexual activity. It should only be taken once per day. A minimum of 24 hours should occur between doses.
Your medical condition, treatment response, and any additional medications you may take influence the dosage. Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medications and supplements you take (including prescriptions, OTC medications, and herbal supplements).
If your doctor or pharmacist says you can, avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medication. Grapefruit can increase the likelihood of adverse effects when using this medication. For more information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
