Assess each patient’s risk before prescribing DILAUDID Oral Solution or DILAUDID Tablets, and monitor all patients frequently for the development of specific behaviors and symptoms.
Dilaudid 8mg (Hydromorphone HCL)
Keep dosages and durations to a bare minimum.
Keep an eye out for signs of respiratory depression and sedation in your patients.
Hydromorphone was positive in the mouse lymphoma experiment when metabolic activity was present, but negative when it was not. Hydromorphone was not mutagenic in an in vitro bacterial reverse mutation experiment (Ames assay). In vitro or in vivo, hydromorphone was not clastogenic in human cells.

If you have used an MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days, do not use Dilaudid. A harmful drug interaction is possible. MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others are available.

Some medicines can combine with hydromorphone to create serotonin syndrome, which can be lethal. Inform your doctor if you also take medication for depression, mental illness, Parkinson’s disease, migraine headaches, serious infections, or nausea and vomiting prevention. Before making any changes to how or when you take your medications, consult your doctor.

You may be unable to utilize Dilaudid if you are not currently on a similar opioid (narcotic) pain medication and are not tolerant to it. If you are concerned, consult your doctor.
